Feyenoord management are wary of pushing Sterling too hard too soon as he hasn't seen any competitive action this season.
Van Persie said: "We want him to play quickly, but we have to be fair too.
"We take everything into account, but if possible, he'll play on Sunday.
"We're not going to force anything just because there are only 11 matches left. Not at all. But we will do so as soon as possible - responsibly and calmly."
