Ten Hag is available after being axed by Bayer Leverkusen barely three games into his new job this season.
De Telegraaf's Marcel van der Kraan, speaking on BBC Sport, revealed: "On Monday, Erik ten Hag was spotted and photographed with his agent Kees Vos and Alex Kroes, the technical director of Ajax.
“Of course they said they had meetings and loved coffee more often, but 48 hours later the current trainer (Heitinga) is fired.”
Van der Kraan added, “I expect Erik ten Hag to be appointed quickly."
