City and Newcastle clash at St James' Park on Tuesday in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie which is set to be an intense clash between two Premier League sides who are in fine form.
However, City boss Pep Guardiola will miss a number of faces for the game, which could hurt his chances heading into the second leg at St James’ Park.
Firstly, in defence, John Stones (thigh issue), Josko Gvardiol (broken leg) and Portuguese international Ruben Dias (hamstring injury) will all be absent, which leaves City exposed at the back.
Midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also out due to a heel problem, which he had surgery on last month. The Croatian international will not return for several weeks but should be back for the World Cup to represent his country.
In attack, Savinho is set to be on the sidelines for “a month-and-a-half, two months” according to Guardiola after suffering an Unspecified injury.
Youngster Oscar Bobb will also be missing due to a Hamstring, but the teenager is aiming for a return at the end of the month. His injury has kept him out of the last six competitive matches but Guardiola could see him back on the pitch in a few weeks time.
City are currently unbeaten in their last 12 games with nine wins and three draws, including a superb 10-1 demolition of Exeter City which may worry Newcastle who are seeking to defend their EFL Cup title this season under manager Eddie Howe.
