United have had a resurgence in form as of late under Amorim who just last month suffered defeats to Brentford, Chelsea and Grimsby Town as they were knocked out of the EFL Cup.
Now, Amorim’s side are unbeaten in their last five games and sit above the champions in 7th place. Fans are in full support of the Portuguese head coach, and now Nani has spoken to Covers.com about how the club needed to stick by Amorim to find success.
“It was a really important moment for Sir Jim Ratcliffe because we saw, in the last few years, so many good managers couldn't meet the expectations.
“It's not just about a manager going there with a good profile, a good name. It's not going to make much difference because the club has so much history and players with big personalities, coaches with big personalities.
“Since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, he left behind such a huge legacy, so everyone who goes there will feel the pressure. So it's not easy to just arrive at the club and then quickly produce what everyone is expecting.
“So you need to have support from the club, from the owner and to feel like you are home, you need to know that if you lose or you win, you still have time to work, put all your methods on the field, and build a strong team. Now it’s working.”
Amorim was named as the Premier League manager of the month for October after leading his side to 3 straight wins. The Red Devils look confident under him this season and are arguably stronger than any other United line up since Ferguson left over 10 years ago.
However, United have kept just one clean sheet all season, against Sunderland at home. His team isn’t perfect and they must improve if they want to push into the European spots, which will be imperative for Amorim’s job security.
