The Championship club released an official statement shortly after the ruling was confirmed, expressing support for the decision and stressing the importance of maintaining integrity within the game.
“Middlesbrough Football Club welcomes the outcome of today’s Disciplinary Commission hearing,” the club wrote in a statement.
“We believe this sends out a clear message for the future of our game regarding sporting integrity and conduct. As a club, we are now focused on our game against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday.”
The decision means Middlesbrough will now face Hull City AFC in the play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, with promotion to the Premier League at stake.
Boro also made it clear that their focus has now shifted fully to preparations for the decisive clash, as they look to secure a return to the English top flight.
