Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has responded to rumours linking him to Manchester United.

As Amorim continues to struggle at United, rumours have circulated in the past few weeks about his potential replacement. Reports have linked former England manager Gareth Southgate, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and now Hurzeler to the role.

The Seagulls head coach offered a brief but clear response when asked about the rumours, which he says is an honour.

“Of course it is always an honour to be part of the rumours but I really respect the coach, Ruben Amorim, there.

“I think it is not the right thing to talk about this.

“Overall, I can say it is a privilege to work with Brighton.

“I am very happy to be the coach here and we have a lot of work in front of us.”

The Red Devils have endured a woeful start to the season, having lost three out of their opening six games. Amorim’s side are already out of the EFL Cup thanks to a loss to Grimsby Town and desperately need to bounce back or risk losing another manager.

Hurzeler’s side celebrated a 3-1 win at Chelsea last week in what was a huge victory that once again pushes his name up in the list of Amorim replacements, which is only growing as the weeks go by.
