While Barca were outplayed as Atletico jumped to a 4-0 lead at halftime, De Jong insists things would've been different if Pau Cubarsi's goal had stood. It took VAR seven minutes to rule out the goal.
Speaking in the mixed zone afterwards, De Jong said: "When this happened (the play) I hadn't been able to see the video yet, so it was difficult for me to give an opinion.
"I think it's too long because it's not that hard to see, I suppose. They said something about the system being broken, but then I saw an image where it's clear that it wasn't offside."
The Dutchman also said: "And then, on television, in the image they show of the offside, you can't see the contact with the ball when he shoots , and then there's an image where you can see Fermín (Lopez) shoot and the defender is a metre behind Robert (Lewandowski).
"If the call is based on the replay I saw, and if it's not AI or something like that, because you never know these days... but if that's the replay, then it's a scandal, because it's crystal clear."
De Jong also conceded: "It was a very poor first half for us, where we didn't do things well, we lost the ball in dangerous areas and they also did well on the counter-attack and we should have done better."
