It’s shaping up to be a busy week for Sunderland in the transfer market and now the side have agreed a deal for Chelsea's Marc Guiu.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 for a reported fee of €6M from Barcelona and has since been primarily used in the Conference League by Enzo Maresca who handed him seven appearances in the competition.

RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad and Roma reportedly expressed interest in snapping him up on loan but it is the Black Cats who have won the race for the Spanish international who according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

“EXCLUSIVE: Sunderland agree deal to sign Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea, here we go!

“Deal in place for straight loan, no buy option clause as Guiu remains part of Chelsea long term plans.

“Salary covered by #SAFC as he’ll be an important striker for Le Bris plans.”

Chelsea signed the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens and are due to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. There was no room for Guiu under Maresca who will hope to see him develop with their Premier League rivals over the course of next season.

Sunderland have made a statement this summer with signings such as Granit Xhaka, Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsdine Talbi and many more who will serve under manager Regis Le Bris who looks to have secured enough talent to stay away from the relegation zone.
