Dele Alli’s hopes of joining Wrexham on a free transfer have been dashed after the Championship club confirmed the final spot in their 2025-26 squad has been filled by returning midfielder Ollie Rathbone.

The 29-year-old former Tottenham star had been linked with a move to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side following his release from Serie A’s Como, where he made just one appearance, earning a red card against AC Milan.

Wrexham had been touted as a potential destination, but Rathbone’s return from a lengthy injury lay-off has closed that door.

Alli, still keen to continue his career, has been training in Bali and sharing his regimen on Instagram as he weighs his next move, with his talent unquestioned despite recent lack of game time.
