Ferguson has made 16 Serie A appearances for Roma this season, scoring 3 goals and grabbing 2 assists under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Irishman joined the Italian side on a season-long loan last summer, with a €40M option to make the move a permanent one at the end of the campaign, an option that is unlikely to be triggered.
Ferguson has been linked with a number of top sides such as Nottingham Forest but, speaking to BoyleSports, he believes that he should drop down a division to Hollywood owned Wrexham.
"Evan Ferguson to Wrexham? Possibly. I think the problem with Wrexham for a Championship side is that they've got so many players, including a lot of forwards.
“But yes, that type of challenge, a team that wants to get promoted, a team that plays good football, a team that plays to your strengths, could work.
"I think that playing regular football and scoring goals is the key to getting your confidence back, and that might mean dropping a level even if it was to a Championship side, where he would be the main man and become appreciated again," Murphy explained.
As Murphy plots his future, Ferguson recently admitted that he just wants to enjoy himself and return to the form that he once enjoyed at Brighton.
"I've had some difficult times. I wanted to get back to myself at Roma and get back to scoring goals. I just want to have a smile on my face and enjoy it all.”
