Simons signed for £51.8Mfrom RB Leipzig in the final days of the summer transfer window, as Frank beat Chelsea to his signature in what is arguably the club’s best piece of business before the season began.
Tottenham enjoyed a winning start to their Champions League campaign by beating Villarreal 1-0 on Tuesday night as Simons featured under Frank once more after making his debut against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchman believes the North London side are in a strong position to make a run in the Champions League this season, and admits that this was one of the main reasons why he decided to make the move this summer.
“If I’m honest with you, that’s why I signed here, especially the club, especially the coach who has had a really big impact into the group ,” Simons said.
“It’s only my second week here but I can feel the group is really tight and together and that’s a really positive thing.”
Simons also stated that conversations with Frank also helped him make up his mind despite him landing in London to also speak with rivals Chelsea.
“Yeah, he was a big influence of course and that was really important,” Simons said.
“At the end, it’s him, the club, the players. My feeling had to be good, and that was my feeling and how it’s been so far.”
Tottenham will now shift their attention back to the Premier League and a trip to Brighton on Saturday, where Simons will feature once more in what has been an excellent start so far.
