In the 2025 calendar year, Liverpool have won just 50% of their games, which has placed immense pressure on manager Arne Slot who lifted the title last season in his first season.
As well as Slot, pressure is also mounting on Alonso, who suffered his third loss in five league games after his side fell to Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
Alonso won the Champions League as a player at Liverpool and is considered a club legend amongst fans who adore the Spaniard, who may return this season.
Madrid have only managed two victories in their last six matches across all competitions and as Alonso comes under scrutiny he was asked about connections to his old side where reports state he may replace Slot.
“There’s a bond with Liverpool. I’m in the place where I want to be (Real Madrid), you never know what will happen in the future”.
Alonso was also questioned about Mohamed Salah's explosive interview following Liverpool's draw with Leeds on Saturday, which has left him out of the Champions League squad to face Inter Milan on Tuesday night.
"This decision has been made in Liverpool, I'm sure we're missing many details of what is going on. I don't need to say anything about it," he said.
