Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was quick to heap praise on teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly's performance following the Gunners Champions League semi-final triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Bukayo Saka's first-half tap-in was enough to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium and book their place in what is set to be an eye-catching final.

Saka stole the headlines for his goal that sealed the win; however, Lewis-Skelly was exceptional in midfield alongside Rice

The 19-year-old completed 44/49 passes (90%) and drew two fouls.

As a result, Rice was stunned by the youngster's performance, as he displayed calmness and authority of the highest order in the biggest game of his career.

“I remember last year when he played so many games - when he stepped up away to Real Madrid at 18, that's when I thought: Wow, we really have a player!” Arsenal's No. 41 exclaimed.

The Gunners victory over Atletico Madrid was the ninth time Lewis-Skelly has featured in the Champions League this term, and everyone associated with the club will be urging him to start in the final on May 30.
