The last time Arsenal visited Anfield, for the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in May. This weekend sees The Gunners face the league champions without both Bukayo Saka and captain Martin Odegaard which is a huge blow for Arteta who must work around the problem.
The £67.5m arrival of Eberechi Eze took Arsenal's spending to £267M this summer and the former Crystal Palace star could replace Odegaard in that creative role. However, speaking to The Metro, Winterburn suggests that the Norwegian international should be replaced with teenager Nwaneri.
"When Nwaneri came on in Odegaard’s position, he played a slightly different role. When Odegaard plays, he has that really good link-up with Saka on the right side, but I liked seeing Nwaneri take up a different position and demand the ball more.
“He got on the ball a lot more, and his passing was excellent. He’s got that superb ability to go past a player in midfield as well if Arteta is looking for something different."
Liverpool will be without Jeremie Frimpong for the clash due to a thigh injury, while Alexis Mac Allister is a doubt. Both sides are dealing with crucial injuries as two title contenders ponder over their teams who need to be at their best this weekend to snatch three points.
