Liverpool's interest in signing Guehi, whose contract at Selhurst Park expires next summer is no secret after his deal fell through in the final stages of the summer transfer window. The Reds thought they had their £35M man on deadline day after he had a medical and a five-year deal was drawn up before Palace pulled the plug.
His collapsed deal has led to suggestions that the England defender could instead move on a free transfer next summer as clubs eagerly await the January transfer window. Now, speaking to OLBG, Brown has pleaded with his former side to make a move for Guehi despite the competition.
“I don't see why not. I'm not sure if he's got a preferred team out of them. Who he would support, whether it's Liverpool or United in that sense.
“He would cost a lot of money though, but it would be brilliant to see him in a Man United shirt. Like I said, I think he's done everything he's needed to do to prove to get to that top level.
“Now he will probably himself individually, be looking at can he win stuff, can he be battling in Champions League, can he be battling for leagues, FA Cups.
“I think that's one thing, going ahead in his career now he'll be looking to be able to do.”
Guehi his first appearance for Palace since the transfer debacle against Sunderland on Saturday and collected another clean sheet. Meanwhile United lost 3-0 to Manchester City and Guehi’s preferred side Liverpool narrowly beat Burnley 1-0.
The defender has a big choice to make in the coming months but if United are to try and attract the young defender then they must start to improve their performances to at least gain European football.
