The France international had to be substituted at half-time in that 2-2 draw with the Red Devils due to a jaw injury which has led to him dropping out of the national side.
Reports suggest that he may have fractured his jaw, meaning that he could be out for several weeks. The 26-year-old could now be replaced for Spurs’ Champions League squad, as UEFA rules this season state that clubs can replace an outfield player in their squad if they have picked up a long-term injury.
That is defined as one that “lasts at least 60 days as of the day the injury or illness occurred”.
Muani has only made eight appearances in all competitions in 2025-26 and is still waiting for his first goal for Thomas Frank's side. He could be replaced with Mathys Tel who missed out on the original squad announcement earlier this season.
Rivals Liverpool had a similar squad change after they added Federico Chiesa to their squad earlier this season once Giovanni Leoni's tore his ACL on his debut under manager Arne Slot.
Muani has already missed five games in all tournaments with a muscle problem this season, and Frank may worry about the Paris Saint-Germain loanees constant knocks once he returns to full fitness.
