Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans has revealed the turning point in the club's fine season so far.

Villa boss Emery has orchestrated a breathtaking run of form in the West Midlands over the past couple of months, guiding his Aston Villa side to 13 victories in their last 15 games across all competitions.

The club’s poor start to the season has now been forgotten and fans are turning their heads towards Champions League qualification which seems more than possible with Emery at the wheel.

Speaking ahead of the Europa League clash with Basel on Thursday night, Tielemans has revealed how his side turned their poor start to the campaign around thanks to Emery’s guidance.

“It was more so a conversation about how we can get back to our level and just keep on doing what we did the season before.

“The manager has always been on point with his analysis, with his work, and it was down to us players to make it click on the pitch.

“We always want to kick on and improve. That’s what we want to do every day.”

“Our mentality has always been good and I don't think there has ever been any negativity inside this team. It was about believing in ourselves to win games.”

The Midlands club beat league leaders Arsenal on Saturday to move three points behind them in the Premier League table and up to third, behind second-placed Manchester City. Villa are looking more like title contenders than European hopefuls at the moment and Emery's side will be hoping to beat West Ham United at the weekend to push further up the table.
