Fenerbahce have sacked Mourinho after they failed to qualify for the Champions League in what has been barely a year after he took charge in Istanbul. In a statement, Fenerbahce said Mourinho had "parted ways" with the club, before thanking the 62-year-old for his efforts and wishing him well.
Mourinho still had a year left on his contract before it was terminated, meaning he is entitled to a hefty compensation package which, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, will amount to £7.7M in severance.
The Portuguese tactician was also given a £17M pay-off by La Liga giants Real Madrid and nearly £20mM by Manchester United when he was sacked in December 2018 just a few months after he had signed a new contract.
His payout from Roma was only around £3M, at Chelsea he took home £18M when he was sacked at Stamford Bridge in 2007 and £8.3M following his second dismissal in 2015. Most shockingly, he picked up £15M in compensation when he was sacked by Tottenham after just 17 months in charge.
This takes his total earnings from sackings alone to around a staggering £89M across his career and as the 62 year old starts his search for a new club, this number may climb even higher in the near future.
