Salah, who scored 29 Premier League goals and provided 18 assists last season, said the club had thrown him under the bus this week as he continues to be blamed for the club’s poor form.
The winger has now reportedly been left out of Liverpool's squad to face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, as he eyes a January exit from the side he has given everything to.
Salah said his relationship with manager Arne Slot has been damaged and that he should be featuring for the side after everything he has given to the club as he “earned it”.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Souness believes that Salah has been disrespectful and that he does not deserve to be in the side based on reputation.
“The really damning thing for me was when he said he doesn't have to turn up every day and fight for his place in training because of what he's done for the club,"
“He's playing for a football club that is an institution.
"He's disrespecting first of all his teammates, he's disrespecting the supporters, that football club and all the great things that that club has achieved in its history.
“He's not been at it this year, he has to accept that, for whatever reason, he's not been at it.
“You don't need a mathematician to work out his numbers are very, very poor.
“He's got to get back to where he was. Now he has no one else to blame but himself."
Salah’s form has dropped off this season, scoring five goals in his 18 appearances and as he prepares to miss out on the Liverpool squad to face Inter Milan, he will be thinking of a move away as soon as the January transfer window opens.
After scoring 250 goals in 420 appearances for the club, it is an emotional end for the Egyptian king whose time in Merseyside has been damaged over the past week as many look for a scapegoat amongst Liverpool's failures.
