Liverpool boss Arne Slot has spoken to the media ahead of this weekend's clash with Fulham.

The champions were lucky to get away with a point against Leeds on Thursday night after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late would-be winner was ruled out for a narrow offside.

Thanks to poor results elsewhere, Liverpool remained in fourth and could cement their place in the Champions League spots with a win against the Cottagers on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool need a bit of magic

Slot, who is under increasing pressure, first spoke on gathering momentum as his side fail to impress both defensively and offensively.

"It’s clear and obvious that we hardly concede chances any more against the opponents we’ve had in the last seven or eight games. But it’s also clear and obvious that we find it quite hard to generate enough chances for all the ball possession we have.

"That’s not new for us this season. The players keep trying but sometimes you need a bit of magic to unlock a game or a set-piece and if that then happens, then everything looks much nicer."

How has the season gone so far?

Liverpool are famously very far off their form from last season, as many fans reluctantly accept that a top four finish is their best possible finish. Slot commented on the season so far which he admits has been a continuous struggle.

"Realistically, there are two teams are quite far away from us.

"We shouldn’t look at those two at this moment in time. We’ve had our struggles throughout.

"Every single game we play, it’s hard work and two teams that are close to each other.

"For the first 19 games, it’s been a constant battle close to each other. Sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we’re unlucky."

Gomes returns

Lastly, as the season heats up, Slot gave a small piece of team news heading into Sunday’s clash as he confirmed that no players picked up any knocks in what is a boost for the side.

"I expect Joe to train with us (Friday) and Wataru (Endo), not yet. Again, I think to say we had four players on the bench who haven't played any minutes in the Premier League and these players just keep going with so many players to go.

"So everyone stayed fit, positive, a clean sheet. If I have to take something positive, it's those two and Ibou (Ibrahima Konate) didn't get a yellow, so is not suspended."
