RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is a wanted man this summer as both Manchester United and Newcastle chase his signature.

Whilst United have successfully secured the services of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, the Magpies have struggled so far this summer having missed out on a number of targets including striker Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool who was there main striker target.

After missing out on prime targets Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, United have now placed their attention on Sesko who has the choice between Tyneside and the North West in what is a difficult decision for the 22 year old who has a very bright future ahead of him.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that both clubs have contacted the player over the past few days but no news has come out yet whether the Slovenia international has decided on where he will end up ahead of the new season.

“Key week for Benjamin Šeško’s future as Manchester United also approached his camp to ask for deal conditions.

“Newcastle presented their project to Šeško last week, ready to bid if player accepts.

“Šeško, expected to decide his future soon.”

According to reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft, Sesko understands that Champions League football is on offer at Newcastle, but he wants to join United who are aiming for European qualification this season after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final last year.

Former England star Stuart Pearce revealed to the Manchester Evening News that the lack of European football could be an issue for United and asked whether they have enough pull to bring in Sesko.

"That's the first thing (they ask). 'Are you in the Champions League?' A lot of players want to be near the big cities. They want to be near Manchester, they want to be in London and their families want to be there.

"You're fighting, geographically, if you are up in Newcastle and that's just the nature of a footballer's mentality, I'm afraid. They might be drawn to whether they have friends at other clubs as well, or friends of their wives and families are a big part of that.

"There are a lot of things to contend with. More so than what you see in front of your eyes on some occasions."
