Crystal Palace are said to be ready to sell striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as contract talks fail.

The Frenchman’s current deal expires in the summer of 2027, and he is yet to agree new terms at Selhurst Park, which is a worry for Palace fans who know that the 28-year-old is in the form of his life at the moment.

Scoring seven goals in 13 Premier League appearances and netting nine times in all competitions, Mateta has since had his first France call-up under manager Didier Deschamps.

Now, as he continues to impress, The Sun reports that the Eagles are ready to sell if talks do not start to progress. The club are already set to lose Marc Guehi for free in the summer when his deal expires, and the club clearly aren’t ready to lose two players without receiving a fee.

Mateta has 45 goals and 8 assists in 144 appearances for Palace, and the Sun’s reports states that he is seeking a significant bump on his £70k-a-week wages to reflect his status as Palace’s star man.

Palace are willing to listen to offers for Mateta with AC Milan and Bayern Munich being mentioned as possible suitors. The striker made no secret of his desire to play for a Champions League side which may give a clue as to his next month, saying in October:

“It’s natural, every ambitious player wants to reach that milestone. Especially when you arrive in the national team and around you, there are only players who play in the Champions League, who win the biggest trophies.”
