Galatasaray were picked apart by Liverpool in a 4-0 loss at Anfield as their Champions League dreams came crashing down in dramatic fashion.
The Turkish giants sustained a number of injuries during the tie which included Victor Osimhen picking up wrist injury and Lang who suffered a serious cut to his right thumb.
This came after he caught his thumb between two advertising boards after stumbling off the pitch. Lang had to be stretchered off as he left in agony with his head in his hands.
On Thursday morning, Lang shared an update after undergoing treatment in Liverpool as staff helped heal what was a gruesome injury.
“S*** happens,” he wrote. “Surgery went well! Thanks for all the messages.”
After the match, a reporter from Turkish TV channel TRT Spor showed the fence where Lang picked up the injury and demonstrated how the injury may have occurred between the advertising boards.
Reports state the incident could lead to a review into pitch side safety at matches in UEFA competitions as player welfare concerns are raised.
Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah all found the back of the net on the night as Liverpool booked their place in the Quarter Final where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.
