Asprilla now lives in his native Colombia running several privates businesses, however he is scrambling to organise a flight to England and Tyneside in time for the game.
Back in 1997, under Sir Bobby Robson, Asprilla struck a superb hat-trick as Newcastle defeated Barca in the Champions League.
Asprilla, 55, last visited St James' Park in January 2011.
