Liverpool may be punished for missing their pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of tonight's Champions League clash at Eintracht Frankfurt as well as breaching multi ball rules.

As reported by the Daily Mail, The Reds are set to be reminded by the Premier League of its rules on multi-ball, following multiple breaches of the system during their game against Manchester United, in which they lost 2-1 at Anfield.

In 2022, rules were changed, meaning that players are now expected to pick the ball up themselves rather than having ball boys or girls to throw it to them, which could be seen as an advantage.

Staff were seen throwing the ball to players throughout the match, encouraging their side, which goes against the rules. Now, even more punishments could follow, as manager Arne Slot missed his press conference this week.

As per UEFA “The clubs must arrange for their teams to arrive on-site by the evening before the match concerned at the latest, and in time to fulfil their media obligations the day before the match.”

The squad trained on Merseyside as they prepared for the clash, earlier in the day on Tuesday, but Slot missed his press conference slot due to issues with the plane. The decision on if punishment will be given will be done by a disciplinary panel, should the UEFA match delegate opt to reference the matter in their official report.

Slot’s side are seeking to prevent a fifth straight loss for the first time since 1953 as they come up against Bundesliga side Frankfurt on Wednesday night. A win is imperative to keep their European hopes alive and to breathe life back into the side.
