Tom Lammens, Senne Lammens' brother, has revealed that he was unsure of him making a move to Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils completed the £18M signing of Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Lammens on deadline day after the club decided against placing a formal offer for Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez who still remains at the side.

Now, after former first-choice goalkeeper André Onana chose to leave the club on loan to Trabzonspor the door is open for Lammens to battle with Altay Bayındır for a spot between the sticks under manager Ruben Amorim.

However, despite the opportunity for game time, Lammens' brother Tom has now admitted that he initially felt that he should have joined Turkish giants Galatasaray

"There’s a lot of quality, you play for trophies there (Galatasaray), and Senne could perhaps immediately make his mark in the Champions League.

“I was initially sceptical about a move to United, because many players there had already succumbed to the pressure and couldn’t reach their full potential."

He clarified that a big reason for the move was that United’s goalkeeper scout, Tony Coton who convinced him to make the move after monitoring him for over a year.

“But ultimately, it was Senne who had to make the decision.United gave him the best feeling. Partly because Tony Coton, United’s goalkeeping scout, had been following him for almost a year and was very convinced of his qualities.

“It would also be great if the club could return to its former glory and if Senne could contribute to that.”

Lammens was on the bench for Sunday’s Manchester derby defeat to City, with Bayindir keeping his place in the team. However, after conceding 3 goals, Amorim may think about starting Lammens who will need time to adapt to the Premier League.
