Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside rumours that he will return to Liverpool anytime soon to replace Arne Slot.

Nearly 12 months after delivering Liverpool's 20th league title, Liverpool have suffered a dire season under Slot whose only hopes of lifting a trophy come from the FA Cup and Champions League.

The Reds are out of the EFL Cup and Premier League title race and could also miss out on Champions League football for next season if their form does not pick up.

Klopp back to Liverpool?

Pressure has grown on Slot who has been tipped to be replaced by the likes of Xabi Alonso and even former boss Klopp who recently returned to the city for an LFC Legends fixture against another of his former sides, Borussia Dortmund, on Saturday.

He ruled out a return when asked, stating that he was simply there for the charity and did not want to raise any hopes.

"Enjoyed every second. My role was definitely not to have a lot of words. I was here for the Foundation and to be part of a really special experience.

"For me, a very special experience after a while – being around, being that close, seeing all the Liverpool lads and then seeing the Dortmund lads as well because that was like 80 per cent of my players.

"And you don't meet very often and have them all together in one room. It's really cool. "It was really, really, really nice. And the people suck it in.

"It's just so nice to see all the boys playing – but I think Thiago alone was worth the ticket!"

Thiago Alcantara and Jay Spearing secured a 2-2 draw in the game against Dortmund and Klopp thanked fans for supporting the cause in what was a warm welcome back to Anfield.

"Thank you to everyone who made my homecoming so special" as he tagged the LFC Foundation.
