In his 82 minutes on the field, Haaland touched the ball only 10 times against Real Madrid on Wednesday as City were whipped 3-0 in the Champions League.

Haaland was a ghost against the La Liga side but despite his dire performance, Barcelona are said to be keen on drawing the Norwegian striker away ahead of the summer window.

This comes from The Mirror who state that Barcelona are looking to sign a striker this summer, with Robert Lewandowski on course to leave at the end of his deal once the season concludes.

Sport report that would be Barcelona chief Victor Font two members of his team, Carles Planchart and Xavier Aguilar, held talks with City's Ferran Soriano and Hugo Viana in Madrid as they looked into Haaland’s future.

Haaland has committed his long-term future to the club, penning a contract until 2034 and any move away from the club would involve a deal worth over £100M which could be difficult for Barcelona considering their poor finances.

Speaking to radio station Cadena SER, Joan Soler stated: "Yes, we could sign players like Julian Alvarez or Erling Haaland.

“These transfers will pay for themselves within five years, and Barcelona's finances are ready for it."
