Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon admits their 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Bayer Leverkusen was a rollercoaster.

Gordon struck from the penalty spot after halftime and Lewis Miley also scored to send Newcastle 2-1 ahead before Alejandro Grimaldo found an 88th minute equaliser.

The England attacker said afterwards:  “The first half an hour was really poor, but we reacted well and we came out well in the second half.

"Defensively, we need to be more tight because we're conceding too many goals late in games. We have to hold out in these games, because that's what top teams do."

On Miley, he said:  “He’s a fantastic player. He has taken a big leap this year with his physical and mental development. I’m really happy for him.”
