United entered the international break on the back of a frustrating 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium which the side will hope to bounce back from as they welcome Leeds to Old Trafford.
Farke admires Carrick
The Red Devils have only lost one of their last 14 league games, picking up eight wins in the process as Carrick storms up the table into third.
Farke first spoke on Michael Carrick's time as United manager so far as he guides the club back to the Champions League ahead of next season where is likely to become the club’s permanent manager.
"After a few weeks it's a bit too early to judge, but Michael has played at the top level with world-class players and been able to win trophies and this experience helps.
"His team always plays with a lot of confidence and freedom and offensive movements and it's difficult to control. I like his style a lot and it suits his team, full of top players. It's no coincidence they've had so many good results, especially in their home games."
Could Leeds have an advantage
United haven't lost against Leeds in any of the pair's last 10 league meetings, going all the way back to 2002 and will hope to maintain that record this weekend.
However, Carrick’s side haven’t played for 20 days when the game comes around and Farke was asked if that could play into Leeds’ hands.
"It's difficult to anticipate. It can be an advantage or disadvantage. They didn't have games or injuries, but on the other hand they can also enjoy themselves in training.
"You never know, especially at this time in the season, to have such a long break. I expect a difficult game for us."
Leeds must lean on rivalry
Lastly, Farke touched upon the heated rivalry between the two sides which has rarely flared up in recent years after Leeds dropped to the Championship.
"We all know how much it means to everyone connected to Leeds United. Such a game. And of course we want to make our supporters proud and give them.
"We wouldn't even need extra motivation because of course we play for every point. We have to fight for every goal to score and to avoid goals against us.
"To do this would be a major boost and of course help our situation in the table. We're looking forward to have this game on Monday."
"It's important to take this (rivalry) into this fixture. When you're in touch with our supporters in every day life, you know how much it means to them and you don't need to point it out to the players.
"It's even important to make sure the players aren't over-motivated and go across the line. It's important to play with fire and heart but also cool in the head."
