Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has admitted he feels a sense of relief ahead of their Champions League showdown with Real Madrid, with star forward Kylian Mbappe still sidelined through injury.

The Italian acknowledged the immense quality of his former Paris Saint Germain teammate, describing him as one of the most dangerous attackers in world football.

Speaking before the round-of-16 clash, the Italian said the Frenchman’s absence offers a clear tactical advantage for the Citizens.

"I have been lucky enough to play with him and he is one of the most amazing players in the world, he is a great talent,” Donnarumma said.

“As a goalkeeper not facing these kind of players can be an advantage! I have less work to do I would say, but the players that will replace him are champions.

“We will have to pay the same attention. Kylian, I am a great friend of his and I hope he can be ready for the second leg because he deserves it."
