Palmer has been out for a vast majority of the season so far, first with a groin injury and then after fracturing his toe while at home.
Chelsea have now confirmed that they have decided to leave Palmer back in England for their Champions League clash with Italian side Atalanta on Tuesday (December 9).
Both sides are level on points in the Champions League league phase (10) with two games remaining after this one.
