The 31-year-old Portuguese star is facing his ninth season with the Premier League champions who are ready to see the iconic playmaker leave this summer.
Having won six Premier League titles and the Champions League among a haul of 16 trophies won under Pep Guardiola, Silva will be missed by supporters who will wave goodbye to him at the end of the campaign.
GOAL and Caught Offside both report that Silva has informed the club of his intention to leave as he wishes to return to mainland Europe.
Silva has played 449 games, scoring 42 goals and providing 34 assists for the side and the race to sign the veteran will now begin over the coming months.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both understood to be interested in Silva whilst Juventus, Napoli and MLS side LAFC are also keen on the midfielder.
Silva suggests he will leave
During an interview with the official Manchester City Podcast, the 31-year-old spoke about his life on and off the pitch in Manchester as he suggested that he will not stay with the English side.
“I have two sides of my life; I have the football side of my life, the professional side of my life, and then my life at home, where my wife and my daughter right now are really, really important to me,” Silva said as quoted by City Xtra.
“I always joke and say that if Manchester City was located a bit more (in the) south of Europe, I would stay here until people kicked my ass out of the club,” he continued.
“Because I truly love the football club, I love my teammates, I love the staff, I love the fans, I love the (Etihad) stadium, I love the atmosphere, I love everything about my professional life.
