Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand has praised Arsenal ahead of their Champions League clash this week.

As The Gunners prepare to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last 16 having finished top of the league phase, they have been praised by Hjulmand who believes they are one of Europe’s elite sides.

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League, are in the Quarter Final of the FA Cup and are favourites to beat City when the two meet in the Carabao Cup final later this month.

The North London side have been incredible under Mikel Arteta this season and show no signs of letting up anytime soon.

Hjulmand described Arsenal as “one of the most difficult challenges” and said they “are perhaps the best team in Europe at the moment.

“We want to enjoy big games like this together with our fans,” he said.

“We’ve already shown this season against many big teams like Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig that we can beat them. As we all know, anything is possible in football.

“You just have to believe in it. This belief in yourself is extremely important. That’s why we’re going into the game with confidence and we’ll give everything at home to get a good result for the second leg.”

Arsenal head to Germany on the back of their fourth straight victory in all tournaments and won’t let their foot off the accelerator as they aim to book their place in the Quarter Final and perhaps go all the way for the first time in their history.
