Arsenal have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Sporting this week.

Arsenal fell to Manchester City in the EFL Cup final before suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Southampton in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final as their quadruple hopes come crashing down.

During the Southampton clash, Gabriel was taken off midway through the second half with a knee problem as he added to the injury list in the squad which is only growing.

Manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the Brazilian asked to be substituted and claimed that the injury was “not good news”.

However, the defender alongside Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard have returned to training this week as they prepare to face Sporting away from home in what will be a very tough clash.

Arsenal remain the only side yet to suffer defeat in Europe’s elite competition this season, finishing top of the league phase with a perfect record but after recent results this record may come to an end.

What’s even worse for the side is that Bukayo Saka, Ebere Eze, Jurrien Timber and Piero Hincapie were still missing from the Gunners’ pre-Sporting training session as Arteta aims to rotate his injury beaten side.

Arsenal had already welcomed Noni Madueke, William Saliba and Martin Zubimendi back from their recent blows against Southampton but fans will still worry that their side does not have the necessary firepower.

Arteta will provide a team news update in his press conference on Monday evening ahead of the game as supporters pray that those who missed this week’s session are fit to start.
