Arsenal have been handed a major boost, with midfielder Merino, 29, back in training ahead of arguably the biggest game in the club’s history.

Merino has been out of action for the past three months after going under the knife for a fractured foot, picked up in the 3-2 defeat to Man United.

The midfielder was spotted taking part in light drills on Thursday, working closely with Arteta and assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg but away from the main group.
