The England captain has scored 126 goals in 131 appearances for Bayern since his 95M transfer from Tottenham in 2023 which has been a complete success so far.
Kane’s second goal against Werder Bremen at the weekend in the Bundesliga was the 500th of his senior career as he continues to find the back of the net at 32 years old.
Across all competitions this season he has struck 41 goals in 35 appearances and is just two assists away from equalling Lewandowski's tally of seven in the Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season.
He is also now on 26 goals with just 12 games remaining in his bid to overtake Lewandowski's record-breaking 2020/21 season haul.
However, despite being so close to making history, Kompany has joked that Kane will be fully focused on lifting another trophy with the side.
“I assume that the league title is much more important for him than the record,” Kompany said post-match.
“But maybe I’m wrong because I was a defender, not a striker (laughs). He’s Harry Kane, he has and will always score goals.”
Winning the Bundesliga as well as the Champions League would put Kane in the Ballon d’Or conversation ahead of the World Cup where he could also find success with England.
