With 30 Bundesliga goals already this season, Kane has surpassed last season’s 26 goal tally as he tracks down Robert Lewandowski’s single-season 41-goal haul, with just 10 games remaining.
Having recently secured his fourth consecutive Bundesliga braces during a 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, Kane is in the form of his life this season under manager Vincent Kompany.
Kompany, who will be devastated to lose the England captain, confirmed his absence ahead of their weekend clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.
“Harry Kane is out tomorrow,” said the Belgian. “He took a knock to his calf and hasn’t recovered yet. It’s just a knock.
“Nothing serious for the foreseeable future, but we might be a day short of him being able to join us. Of course, we would have liked Harry, but these things happen.”
The setback is a blow for Kane’s chances of breaking the Bundesliga goalscoring record that seemed like an impossible task before the season began but is now in reach for the veteran striker.
With just 10 games remaining and Kane set to miss this weekend’s clash, this leaves the 32-year-old with 9 games to score 12 goals which is a feat that is more than possible for the former Tottenham star.
