Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has revealed that he is aiming to break Robert Lewandowski's long held record.

With an exceptional 36 goals in just 32 appearances in his maiden Bundesliga campaign, Kane came agonisingly close to beating Lewandowki’s single-season goal record.

The Poland international scored 41 goals in the 2020/21 season, beating Gerd Müller’s 40 set in the 1971/72 season.

Kane is well on his way to reaching Lewandowski’s record after 18 bagging Bundesliga goals in just 14 appearances and five in six games in the Champions League.

Speaking to Absolut Fussball, Kane said the record is one of his targets for this season and that consistency is key to smashing it.

"I think it's possible, especially with the start I've had so far this year. There's still a long way to go. I need to be able to maintain this level for another four or five months.

“In football, the hardest thing is to be consistent over a long period. This record is an incredible record and it will be hard to beat, I know that. I always enjoy trying to have these ambitions."

If he manages to break Lewandowski’s record, the England captain will leave his mark on the Bundesliga and cement his name in history for what may be decades to come.
