Chelsea have reportedly registered an interest in Bayern Munich defender Min-Jae Kim as their pursuit of Rennes wonderkid Jeremy Jacquet stalls.

Liam Rosenior’s side seem intent on signing a new central defender this month and have been in talks with Rennes over a move for Jacquet, 20.

Rennes are said to be holding out for a fee of around £60 million, however, and Chelsea are yet to reach a breakthrough in negotiations.

According to journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea have now turned to Kim, 29, and have reached out to the player’s representatives to voice their interest.

Kim hasn’t been a regular for Bayern this season, starting just eight Bundesliga games, and could be tempted to leave for more regular action.
