South Africa edged closer to retaining their CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after a tense quarterfinal against Senegal that ended in a penalty shootout on Saturday.

After a goalless 120 minutes, Banyana Banyana triumphed 4–1 on penalties, thanks largely to goalkeeper Andile Dlamini’s heroic saves.

The match was tightly contested, with Jermaine Seoposenwe, Hildah Magaia, and Karabo Dhlamini all denied by Senegal’s solid defense and goalkeeper Adji Ndiaye.

Dlamini made crucial saves, including two decisive stops in the shootout against Nguenar Ndiaye and Meta Kande.

Karabo Dhlamini, Tiisetso Makhubela, Gabriela Salgado, and Bambanani Mbane all calmly converted their penalties, with Mbane’s top-corner strike sealing South Africa’s shootout victory and a semi-final clash with Nigeria.
