Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over Benin Republic in the first leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Stade de Kegue on Friday.

The Super Falcons started strongly, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade hitting the woodwork in the seventh minute, while the home goalkeeper made several key saves to deny the visitors.

Chiwendu Ihezuo broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, finishing a precise pass from Deborah Abiodun. Esther Okoronkwo doubled the lead late in the first half, again assisted by Abiodun.

Despite dominating the second half, Nigeria could not extend their advantage. The two sides will meet again for the second leg at Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, next Tuesday.
