Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has revealed that the club will seek attacking reinforcements to combat AFCON.

Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on December 21st and ends January, 18th will cause chaos amongst Premier League sides who will attempt to cope without top African players amongst their club’s will represent their country for a number of weeks.

Palace will miss Ismaila Sarr and Christantus Uche for what could be almost a month and Glasner has now revealed that he plans to bring in a number of fresh faces to fill the void.

"It could be that Ismaila Sarr and Christantus Uche go to AFCON. We are looking and preparing,” Glasnser said after Palace’s 0-0 draw with Brighton on Sunday.

“If we could add a player in the January window, that would help a little bit. We need one or two. But I trust this group of players to show up when we need them."

Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Morocco are all among the favourites for the tournament which may help Sarr (Senegal) and Uche (Nigeria) return earlier than mid Janaury. However, two players will be gone for at least a few weeks.

Palace face Fulham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa in early January and Glasner will need all the firepower he can get against all three sides who are pushing for European spots this season.

Palace’s goalless draw with Brighton was the sixth time already this season that Glasner have failed to score in a game across all competitions in what is a worrying statistic for a club who will lose two top forwards next month.
