Head coach of Sudan national team Kwesi Appiah has expressed his pride in his team despite closing 3-1 to Senegal in Saturday’s Round of 16 clash.

Aamir Abdallah’s sixth minute lead had given the Sudanese a sixth minute lead before the Lions of Teranga clawed back thanks to Papa Gueye’s first half brace.

Notwithstanding the defeat, the Ghanaian tactician is impressed with how his team played the former African champions in Tangier.

"Of course I am disappointed with the result of the game but proud of the effort of my players throughout this competition," Appiah told the media.

"We played against a very experienced Senegal team but we showed our quality. Despite the result tonight I am sure the Sudanese people know that we came to this competition and proudly represented them."
