The Gabonese government has reacted brutally to their Africa Cup of Nations exit.

Gabon were bounced out of the tournament after blowing a 2-0 lead to lose to Ivory Coast in their final group game and so were eliminated.

In response, Gabon's Minister of Sport said in a statement: "Given the Panthers' disgraceful performance in the 2025 African Cup of Nations, and considering the demonstration of values contrary to the ethics and virtue that distinguish our Republic, the Government has decided to dissolve the technical staff, suspend the national team until further notice, and permanently exclude the players Bruno Ecuele Manga and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

"In conclusion, the Government  calls on the Gabonese Football Federation to assume its full responsibilities."

Gabon lost all three of their group games, with coach Thierry Moyouma and Marseille veteran and former Arsenal captain Aubameyang now frozen out of the national team setup.
