Plymouth Argyle forward Owen Oseni has expressed his pride after making history with Nigeria at the 2026 Unity Cup in London.

The 23-year-old earned his first senior cap for the Super Eagles in the semi-final victory over Zimbabwe, coming on as a second-half substitute.

He also featured from the bench in Nigeria’s triumph over Jamaica in the tournament final.

With his appearances, he became the first Irish-born player to represent the three-time African champions.

Reflecting on the achievement, the former Derby County player described it as a moment he and his family would cherish forever.

“To be the first Irish kid to play for the Super Eagles will be a moment me and my family will cherish forever,” Oseni wrote on Instagram.

Despite being born in Ireland, the striker committed his international future to Nigeria and has also been named in the squad for the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
