Monaco manager Sebastien Pocognoli expressed his frustration after AS Monaco were held to a 2-2 draw by Pafos.

The French side took the lead through Takunmi Minamino in the fifth minute but honour was shared after the hosts got their goal after Mohammed Salisu turned the ball into his own net.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Pocognoli acknowledged the team’s performance but stressed the need for greater stability in the starting eleven.

“We started the game well, taking the initiative and scoring a goal in the way we wanted, by building an attack between the lines with our creative players,” Pocognoli told AS Monaco website.

“I don’t know if it’s scoring that’s making us drop back or if it’s the fear of conceding that’s paralyzing us right now. We’ll need to be mentally stronger in certain aspects of the game.

“Generally speaking, we need to find stability in the starting eleven because it will bring us confidence and composure.

“That’s what we’re lacking in the structure we want to implement, in scenarios where we end up with 10 men, not to mention injuries and how we manage them.

“We’ll have to find that stability to be able to analyze the team’s character, and it’s up to me to try and bring that touch, as well as optimism, to the match so we don’t have to be at the mercy of these situations.”
