Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has revealed that his toughest opponent during his playing career was not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Belgian made 621 senior appearances between 2003 and 2020, most notably serving as captain of Manchester City and the Belgium national team.

While he had high praise for both Messi and Ronaldo, it was former FC Barcelona and Brazil star Ronaldinho who left the most lasting impression on him.

"Ronaldinho impressed me the most. Of course Messi and Ronaldo are probably the best players - but from what I saw in one game, it was Ronaldinho," he told the media.
