The retired striker scored 120 league goals in 236 appearances for the Reds before leaving for Leeds United in 2002 having lost his place to Emile Heskey and Michael Owen.
"Before and After… been a few people lately saying the same thing, go and get those blemishes/spots checked, basal cell carcinoma," Fowler posted on X. "Caught early thankfully so all good…just need to get a club now."
Before retiring from professional football, Fowler also played for Manchester City, Cardiff and Blackburn Rovers.
The former England international managed Australian side Brisbane Roar, East Bengal boss and Al-Qadsiah – where he was replaced by Michel in 2023.
