Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has revealed that Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is nearing full fitness ahead of this weekend’s Championship clash against Portsmouth.

The 32-year-old has been out since suffering a hamstring injury during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, missing Hull City’s last seven matches across all competitions.

Speaking to Hull Live, Jakirovic confirmed that Ajayi has resumed training with the team. “He trained with us normally today, which is great news,” he said.

“We will see if he’s with us in Portsmouth or will be in the squad at Ipswich on Tuesday.”

Ajayi’s return is expected to strengthen Hull’s defence and could also help him regain match fitness for potential call-ups with the Nigerian national team, boosting both club and international prospects.
